The House of Representatives has been busy going through various appropriations bills to be added to the final budget. And the Democrat-controlled branch of the federal government has perhaps un-shockingly voted in favor of depriving newborn survivors of abortion their right to live.
Various amendments that would have protected newborn baby lives from being murdered after leaving the womb when attempted abortions go awry were repeatedly shot down by Democrats, who appear to be trying to make infanticide the new abortion.
The party of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is hellbent on destroying as many unborn and newborn lives as possible, opposing every effort by House Republicans to show mercy and decency to newborn babies who just want the chance to live.
An amendment proposed by Representative Andy Harris (R-Md.), for instance, which would have protected newborn survivors of botched abortions from being tossed into the trash heap was shot down by House Democrats, which voted almost purely on party lines.
“Dr. Harris introduced a commonsense amendment that asked hospitals in the Tricare network to certify that they’d provide medical care for any baby born alive,” reported Harbinger’s Daily. “One of the conditions of taxpayer funding, he proposed, is that they have a policy on the books guaranteeing that the newborn abortion survivor would ‘be taken care of and resuscitated.'”
“It’s very simple,” Harris emphasized, noting that his proposal came with no penalties attached and was not overly burdensome. But House Democrats rejected it, instead choosing to declare that the lives of newborn babies do not matter.
Harris told reporters while shaking his head that the argument is sure to be made by the Left that survivors of botched abortions are rare. But the truth is that at least 143 such cases occurred between 2005 and 2014, with likely many more that went unreported.
“[Those] are the CDC’s numbers, not anyone else’s numbers,” Harris emphasized. “And that might even be an underestimate.”
Speaking directly to his colleagues across the aisle, Harris desperately tried to petition any goodness that might still remain in the hearts of Democrats, but to no avail.
“There’s no discussion about whether [it’s] appropriate that a human being born alive qualifies as an individual protection under the law,” he stated. “This is a simple way to make sure that those quality measures would be in place in hospitals that request and would receive TRICARE funds.”
Two Democrats, including Congressman Sanford Bishop of Georgia and Henry Cuellar of Texas, did end up crossing the aisle in support of Harris’ amendment. But the rest stayed true to party lines, declaring with their opposition that they hate newborn human lives and do not consider them valuable or worth saving.
“This isn’t about anything to do with abortion itself,” responded Washington Watch’s Sarah Perry.
“It’s about a newborn baby getting a ‘proper degree of care.’ And how the committee could vote that down … it’s [hard] to understand … So, you know, that was probably one of the more discouraging votes of the week. Just knowing that … pro-choice members now can’t even support issues like that, when a child is born alive and just is trying to survive.”
Democrats also fought against attempts by Republicans to prevent Washington, D.C. from turning into the taxpayer-funded abortion capital of the world, stripping language from the proposed budget that in years past banned it. And when Rep. Tom Graves (R-Ga.) spoke up in defense of this removed wording, and he was mocked by Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), who stated:
“Another day, another markup, another amendment from anti-abortion elected officials that would deny access to abortion.”
