A new 911 audio recording obtained by the nonprofit Cincinnati Right to Life revealed that a woman was recently injured at a surgical facility that gained notoriety over the years as the site of several abortion injuries.
During the 911 call on Oct. 25, a woman who identified herself only as Selena called emergency services and said that there was a 33-year-old woman who needed to be transported to a hospital. She had very little information to share with the dispatcher except describing the woman as conscious, breathing and bleeding from her cervix following a “complicated” procedure.
Selena confirmed to the 911 dispatcher that the woman’s location with the emergency was 1401 East Stroop Road in Dayton, Ohio – the address of the Women’s Medical Center of Dayton (WMD).
WMD is owned by Dr. William Martin Haskell, an American abortion physician in Ohio, associated with an abortion procedure known clinically as “intact dilation and extraction” and popularly by the term “partial-birth abortion.”
“Partial-birth abortion” is defined by federal law as a procedure in which the person performing the abortion “deliberately and intentionally” delivers a living fetus vaginally until the entire baby’s head or any part of the baby’s trunk is outside the body of the mother, after which the baby is then killed.
Haskell’s WMD has been known to perform abortions even if the chance of the baby living outside of the uterus is great. Operation Rescue, one of the most outspoken pro-life groups in the United States, reported that WMD has a habit of calling “serious conditions” such as hemorrhages and other potentially life-threatening injuries that happen as “non-emergent.”
“We have been documenting botched abortions at this notorious facility for years, along with its unscrupulous tactics to remain in business,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “The habit of downplaying complications women experience intensifies the seriousness of their emergencies.” (Related: Abortion industry wants legal immunity to kill live-birth babies who survive botched abortions.)
In a Washington Examiner report, Haskell “donated $100,000 in March to Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights PAC, one of three major groups pushing Issue 1, a constitutional amendment that would end any statewide restrictions on abortion in Ohio.”
With the approval of Issue 1, late-term abortionists like Haskell and the physicians under his employ have been given free rein by Ohio voters to perform “abortion-on-demand” through all nine months of pregnancy and eliminate all common-sense health and safety protections for women.
Project Women Ohio Press Secretary Amy Natoce noted that Haskell donated $100,000 to the campaign supporting Issue One because “he routinely knows it is an investment in his late-term abortion practice,” which Haskell mentioned that he “routinely” performs in pregnancy terminations at 20 to 24 weeks, when the unborn are already considered pre-viable or nearing the limit of viability.
As of press time, with over 95 percent of votes in, over 56 percent of voters in Ohio have approved Issue 1, making the right to an abortion protected by the State Constitution. But even with the referendum’s approval, the state legislature could still try to pass a law banning abortion after the point when a fetus can survive outside the uterus, or between 20 to 24 weeks, unless the patient’s “treating physician” deems it necessary to perform an abortion to protect the life or health of the mother.
